What is hypnotherapy ?

Hypnotherapy accesses the subconscious mind to make life altering, permanent changes. The number of sessions is determined by: your desire to change, core issues, and adhering to mutually established expectations. Many people experience dramatic results after the first session. Optimally, 6 sessions are preferred.  For patients seeking relief from trauma, the number of sessions varies on the intensity and violation of the traumatic event.  My goal is to make you independent of me.

Anyone can be hypnotized. You are in a state of hypnosis when you watch TV or a movie. You are always in control during hypnosis; no one will forego his/her agency while they are under hypnosis.. During hypnosis, your senses are actually heightened; conversely, your body and mind feel very relaxed.

“Hypnosis is a trance-like state in which you have heightened focus and concentration … Contrary to how hypnosis is sometimes portrayed in movies or on television, you don’t lose control over your behavior while under hypnosis.”

Mayo Clinic

Due to research and improved training and certification, hypnosis is no longer considered a fringe treatment. It is now promoted by the American Psychological Association (2020) as a therapy beneficial for “pain, anxiety, and mood disorders,” while helping people change negative habits such as smoking..   Additionally, hypnotherapy is effective in treating a wide variety of stresses including: stress related to tests, job interviews, sports, flying, public speaking, social situations, managing weight loss, improving sleep, overcoming alcohol habit, overcoming pornography habit, and other inner conflicts.

The efficacy of hypnotherapy, versus other forms of cognitive therapy is outstanding.  Alfred A. Barrios PHD presented a review "Psychotherapy: Theory, Research and Practice (1970)" where he outlined the following recovery rates:

  • Hypnotherapy was 93% successful after an average of 6 sessions.

  • Psychoanalysis was 38% success rate after an average of 600 sessions.

  • Behavior Therapy was 72% after 22 sessions.

In summation, not only are the results of hypnotherapy faster, they are also much more effective.
